LISTEN TO YOUR HEART
A new song & music video about unending hope, by music artist JP SUNGA.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
JP SUNGA is an emerging independent singer-songwriter out of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. His songwriting catalogue is thick, spanning over two decades with influences from a range of various genres. Previously recognized as one of Canada's top independent artists, JP is busy recording the remainder of his debut full-length album, due December 2020.
ABOUT THE SONG
Listen To Your Heart affirms that there will always be a light of hope within each of us, fighting for us, even in the darkest of times and even in the moments that we, ourselves, don't even see or believe it is there. It was written with the intent of providing hope to those who may be struggling in their own lives, whether silently or outwardly, and in need of receiving a message of positivity and encouragement.
Sonically, the song can be described as a futuristic pop ballad. With the help of multi-talented producer extraordinaire, Sam Hillifer, the pair managed to create a dynamic arrangement to match the emotional weight of the song's lyrics. The result is a sonic landscape that has a cinematic feel, taking the listener on a poignant journey that eventually returns them home. Here, the term "home" is to represent a safe space, whether tangible or conceptual.
Listen To Your Heart is the first single off JP's debut full-length album.
"When you wanna crash but you need to land, there's another way, you will find that way..."

ABOUT THE VIDEO
The video follows an abstract story of a character who fights an internal struggle, told through dance. The entire story plays out around JP and a piano, as if he were an internal voice using the song to guide this character through her journey. With the piano representing the idea of "home", the character is conflicted between wanting to flee and yearning to return, culminating with her being far away and lost, alone and hopeless. It is here where she reflects and finally gathers the strength to free herself, from herself, resolving in her returning to her safe space; her home.
